Cenotes are ancient sinkholes that exist throughout the Yucatan Peninsula. For many years, these caverns have been a major scuba diving attraction in Mexico. For the best lighting and visibility, dive the cenotes between May and September. For the best above-the-water weather, choose October to April. Nearest to Puerto Aventura, you will find Chikin Ha, Tajma Ha and Ponderosa. The central region features the Pit, Takbe Ha, Cenote Dos Ojos, Dreamgate, Casa Cenote and Carwash. Finally, Temple of Doom and Angelita are located close to Tulum. Cenotes are mostly freshwater dives, temperature tend to be between 24-26 °C (75°F-79°F) and we always recommend a thicker exposure suit for your comfort.
